I am working with a computer tech who would like to implement a MySQL data management system for a non-profit org. This system would store spatial and non-spatial information.

1. I am wondering if arc gis can import spatial information from an MySQL data management system

2 Is this an ok way to store spatial and non-spatial data for use in arc gis...or what would a better design be?

Thank you,

Jane

Jane,

There is an ok discussion on this here:

What are the limitations of using MySQL with ArcGIS? - Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange

There is a short discussion of errors connecting to MySQL here: (which links to another thread)

Error connecting ArcMap and Mysql

In general, if you are working on an enterprise geodatabase, MySQL is likely not the route you want to go.

Here is the list of supported database management systems:

Supported database management systems—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

MySQL is not listed.
