Hello Everyone,

I am currently having a problem where I convert a Mr.SID file to a raster dataset and suddenly the file size jumps from 642 MB to almost 12 GB!

Currently I do not know what to do in order to keep the raster dataset to have the same file size as the Mr.SID file.

Thanks for all the help.

Mr Sid files are highly compressed and hard to beat for file size.  you can read about how it works in this link‌ don't expect anything to come close to its file size.

Can you use Mosaic Dataset instead of Raster Dataset and it is probably why you were having problems with the MrSID as Dan Patterson suggest ?

Hi

If you use Tiff compressed with JPEG_YCbCr you usually gets a file that is only twice the size of MrSID (using 75% compression).

It is quicker to open and quick to create.

Try It
