i have a dem in the form of a high number of .asc files. I used the mosaic to new raster tool which works fine except it converts every values into integer. I don't see which option can provide a more accurate result that include the complete decimal information.
When running this tool, be sure to choose 32-bit Float for the pixel type. This will allow decimals in the output. See under 'pixel type' in the following link:
