I'm hoping someone can help me by shedding light on the issue of cell size and scale when it comes to mosaic datasets. What I want to do is set the scale at which the base raster is displayed. So lets say I want the base raster to be displayed at 1:12000. If I use the formula provided in the help (Cell Size = Scale x 0.0254/96), I get an answer of 3.175. Converting this cell size to feet I get a cell value of 10.416667. Now I am assuming that this is the value I would place in the MaxPS column beacuse "maximum cell size defines the upper limit of the image". However, once the this is entered I can scale out to 1:14,999 with the images still visible and at 1:15,000 they are shut off. So what am I missing here?
By the way, I am testing this on a 10.0SP4 mosaic data stored in a GDB with no overviews built and no pyramids on the rasters.
Any in site into this would be greatly appreciated.
