Modify record to append a feature in ArcGIS10

Earlier I was able to select a table record in edit mode and modify it to include a spatial feature (usually I'd add a point). I'd use this method for any table, but especially when the geocoding process could not be completed. I often have source tables with place information besides the typical street address syntax that I need to interpret myself. What would a current method with similar results be?  To be sure, I would NOT like to create any new records, just append the current ones with features.

If available, the link would have reminded the reader of the 'Replace Geometry' tool found in the Advanced Editing toolbar.  In this case you will replace null geometry with some geometry.
