I understand you can make an image service from a Mosaic Layer.

I have a mosaic dataset with four rasters. I can DQ each raster into a separate layer in ArcMap, but you can't make an image service from a layer in ArcMap.

I hate to ask such a basic question, but the documentation didn't describe how you'd use a mosaic layer to make an image service, only that it could be done.

If I could just get a small nudge in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Randy McGregor

So you need to create a Mosaic Layer and Save it as a Layer file (*.lyr). Make Mosaic Layer—Help | ArcGIS Desktop

To make your layer permanent, right-click the layer in the table of contents and click Save As Layer File

From ArcCatalog Window, right-click the Mosaic Layer and Share as Image Service Publishing image services—Documentation | ArcGIS Enterprise

Hope this helps!!!
