Hi,

I have a basemap and a polygon that overlapping this base map. I just need the polygon that DO NOT overlap with the base map. How could i do this? I have about 100 polygons and i need to remove all the overlapping polygons and just keep the polygon area that do not overlap with the base map.. I had tried erase tools  but it do not work. i'm currently using Arcmap 9.3 version.Later on, after I do all the erase i need to the the all the intensity for the polygons that overlapping each other. BUT not the area that overlap with the base map. Can you help me?
Thank you

I am not sure what you meant by base map, but perhaps you can try this:

1. Use the Create Fishnet tool (Data Management toolbox - Feature Class toolset) to create a 1 by 1 "cell" using your base map layer as the Template Extent; you should get a rectangle polygon covering your base map area.
2. Use the Erase tool to erase your polygons by the rectangle polygon.

Does that work for you?
