How to restore default dropdown menus

I recently (somehow) deleted key elements of my dropdwon toolbar, e.g. "File", etc. such that currently, the first dropdown is "Insert." I've spent much too long in Customize trying to restore the default settings to no avail.

Can someone advise on either how to recover these dropdown menus, or else to restore the default dropdown menus in ArcMap 10?

Try to rename/delete Normal.mxt template which is located in (or something similar):
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.0\ArcMap\Templates\Normal.mxt

When you start ArcMap next time, it will create a new Normal.mxt and all your customizations will be lost.
