Hello GeoNet,

I am new to the ArcMap world, I work in civil engineering as an EIT and I was tasked with finding out some information on some parcel data, ie: address, ownership, value, etc.

I have the parcel data as a .shp file in ArcMap as well as a proposed highway (the red line) .shp within ArcMap. I am trying to extract the parcel data that is within or touches that proposed highway linework. I am not sure if this is possible or how to succeed. I've attached an image to better help explain.

Thank you all for your time and help.

Joshua

there are several options

Select Layer By Location—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

Intersect—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

If those don't cut it, there are other options

Hi Joshua,

I do this very frequently and will second what Dan has suggested.

I normally use Select by Location and put in a 100 foot buffer on the line just to make sure I am grabbing every parcel that might be involved with this linework.
