Using ArcMap 10.3. I have a National polygon layer for the provinces & boundaries of Canada. I then have individual feature classes for each province that contain Electoral Districts; we need to combine them into one file but they do not have aligned borders; gaps and overlaps throughout the country occur. As a result, we are attempting to use a separate national file that has single, shared boundary lines.
For this I'm trying to merge each province/territory into one national feature class, clipping each provincial/territorial boundary to the country wide layer that has simpler border lines.
The issue I'm running into is when I try to clip, the internal polygons (Electoral Districts) become dissolved. How can I avoid this? Perhaps I'm attempting to do this the wrong way?
Thanks
