Hi, I have downloaded the following GTOPO30 dem:

http://glcfapp.glcf.umd.edu:8080/esdi/ftp?id=68196

When I add it to ArcGIS I get an "Inconsistent Extent" warning. Location coordinates look strange and I can't zoom in or zoom out.

What is the correct projection for this file and how do you fix this to overlay to an SHP file?

Thanks for your help.

http://glcf.umd.edu/data/srtm/ probably in decimal degrees, but you can confirm by adding it to a new, empty data frame (ie no other data), if the coordinates look like they are in decimal degrees, then probably define the data as a GCS WGS 84 in the absence of any other meta data that should have been included in the file or on the download site.
