I have recently received an extensive orthoimagery (tiled) dataset (GeoTIFFs), and related DEMs, and vectors (topo contours).
In ArcMAP 10.1, these co-register properly. However, in ArcMAP 10.0, they do not -- the GeoTIFFs end up somewhere in very remote space.
I have found a lot to read on this, and it appears to be a NAD 1983 (2011) issue.
However, for us, using Alaska State Plane 1, US survey feet, I haven't found any path to getting these to work in ArcMAP 10.0. What I'd like to have is some advice on
a) what projection files are needed, b) what geometric transformation files are needed (if any), c) where these appropriate files are placed in ArcMAP 10.0's directories, and d) any additional steps needed to get these to work in ArcMAP 10.0.
The irony is that the prj files for Alaska State Plane 1, feet, for "NAD 1983" and "NAD 1983 (2011)" appear to be the same -- these may have different parameters in the contiguous states, but here, these files appear to be a "distinction without a difference".
I am wondering what the difference is, between ArcMAP 10.0 and ArcMAP 10.1, that makes these GeoTIFFs work properly in 10.1, and what I can do, to make 10.0 work properly with these GeoTIFFs.
Cheers, -Bruce
PS: I'd upload files, but these are 325 meg GeoTIFFs.
However, perhaps looking at the EXIF tags for one of these GeoTIFF files will help; if so, here it is:
