I'm not sure if georeferencing and geocoding are even the same thing but I'll give this forum a shot.  I have a raster image and a jpg file.  I create a new blank map document, add the raster image and the jpg.  I start the georeferencing function, add control points and line my jpg up over the raster image.  When I am done, I am unable to save anything.  If I select Update Georeferencing and then Rectify, I receive an error when I click Save - "failed to save raster data".

If anyone can offer assistance, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Hello! First of all, georeferencing and geocoding are very different, and a jpg is actually considered a raster when added into ArcGIS (look at the source tab under properties). I tested what you are doing with some of my data and had no issues. Is any of your data open in other programs? If so, that could have caused the save error. Let me know if that solves your issue.

Melissa,

Is your file read only, sometimes happens if you have copied it from a CD.
