Hello ,
I am looking for shape file for the Galápagos Islands any idea where I can find the info?
Also, is it possible to convert .wms into shape file? How?
Thank you so much
C,
Hi Carole,
Wow, it is harder than I thought to grab GIS data for the Galápagos Islands. Take a look at this thread. Someone asks the same question:
Vector Data for Galapagos - GIS - CartoTalk http://www.cartotalk.com/index.php?showtopic=8129
You may have luck looking at the sites for World Vector Shoreline:
And click here to be able to find data to access:
Global Self-consistent, Hierarchical, High-resolution Geography Database (GSHHG | NCEI
There are also some downloads for Ecuador here that you can look through:
This thread may help answer your WMS question but, likely you cannot easily do this:
python - How to convert WMS to SHP? - Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange
I hope this helps.
Thank you so much Adrian.
Very helpful.
I will do that.

Carole,
Let me know if you are successful in finding what you need (and maybe you can post back to here to show where exactly you obtained your data).
Yes,
I will definitely do that.
Thank you.
C
Carole, Did you find what you were looking for?
Adrian,
Yes, I did.
I actually was able to get the shape files from Open street map as osm , then I used QGIS to make them ESRI Shape file and I got all of the files now in ArcMAP.... Thank you so much

Maybe too late but Ecuador has a nice website for data.
