I'm running ArcMap 10. I'm editing a feature class in a file GDB. Other users view this feature class. I never had a problem before editing the feature class. However, yesterday I got the following error while trying to save my edits:

"Unable to save edits.
Cannot acquire a lock. [The table (feature class name) is being written by another process.]"

The file GDB is on a network drive. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Please test following and let me know if you can reproduce the problem again.

1. Open one ArcMap session, add the feature class from the file geodatabase, open attribute table.
2. Open another ArcMap session, add the same feature class from the same file geodatabase, start editing session, and edit the feature class, then click Save Edits.

Thanks,
Ben L.

I found out what it was. Basically, someone else edited when I was out and CLOSED his edit session. He edited the attributes on the table directly (instead of on the attribute editor sidebar). He left the table open. Even though he closed his edit session, it wouldn't allow me to edit anything.

I hope this may help someone else in the future. Thanks!
