Hi,

I am trying to load a Shape file into a File GeoDatabase but I am getting an error for 4 of the records.

OID Error description
196 The row contains a bad value. [ADDINFO]
221 The row contains a bad value. [ADDINFO]
419 The row contains a bad value. [ADDINFO]
526 The row contains a bad value. [ADDINFO]

ADDINFO is a field within the database so I??m assuming the problem is due to the content of that field?
I think the Shape file displays fine in ArcMap 9.2 with the data in the Attribute Table, if it is the case that OID is the same as FID?

The ADDINFO field is a String Text field with 254 Characters length.  It contains the following contents for these OID/FID??s

TRUNK ROAD FEEDER PILLAR, FEEDS U/PASS @ GREENBURN DRIVE
TRUNK ROAD FEEDER PILLAR FEEDS U/PASS @ GILBERT ROAD
        * TRUNK ROAD SECTION BOX *                 *ONLY FOR EMERGENCY USE*
SECOND FROM UNION STREET AT WEST SIDE OF THE COLLEGE

I thought perhaps because the first few records contained @ and * characters that the GDB did not like this so I edited the data and removed but I still get the same error.

Data Management | Features | Repair Gemetry, does not report any problems.

I then tried deleting the contents of ADDINFO for those 4 records and hey presto it imported fine

I'm none the wiser to what the problem is.

Any advice?

Cheers

Chris 😉
