I turned off editor tracking on a feature class to run a massive field calculation. Now I am trying to re-enable editor tracking, using the same fields that were originally set, however I get "Error 001217: Invalid editor Tracking field in dataset...". When I open Fields View, I see that one of the previously used editor tracking fields is still greyed out, like it is still locked for use by the database (like it does when Editor Tracking is enabled, and other database managed field such as Global ID). The other 3 field previously used for Editor Tracking are not greyed out. I do get the option to use another field, or create a field but I need to continue to use the field that was being used previously. This database is a connected child replica of a regional database that is also a parent of of a diconnected database, so exporting to other tables and back in is not really an option. (Editor tracking is on and using the fields on the other databases related to this one, so I can rebuild replicas, but I would prefer not to cause downtime for my end user if I can find a way to "release" the field via SQL or a gp tool! )
