I'm working on a project where I want to create sidewalk lines based off of a street centerline file. Along the left and right side of each line segment I want to create a line segment of identical length and angle as the road segment but at a specified offset distance.

The Trace feature on the Editor toolbar is the only thing I can find that will do something similar to what I want but I am hoping this can be an automated process.

Looking for any thoughts or advice as well as any literature where this process has been done before.

Thanks! That definitely helps with my crosswalk issue. Still looking into automating the creation of sidewalk centerlines.

Most drawings I've seen have curb lines and back of sidewalk lines. You must be creating a pedestrian travel network or something.
