What I'm working with: ArcMap 9.3.1 with a lot of extensions
Question: How do I reproject a polygon shapefile from GCS_North_American_1983 to UTM NAD 83?
Background info if it helps: I've been working with a lot of environmental data shapefiles mostly obtained via the USDA geospatial data gateway. Which register as unknown coordinate system when I upload them but align perfectly with UTM NAD 83 projections. The other day I found a great new wetlands shapefile from the US Fish and Wildlife Service National Wetlands Inventory data mapper (www.fws.gov/wetlands/data/Mapper.html). I was easily able to download the shapefile from the site and load it into a new project in ArcMap. However, I can't overlay any of my previous data with this new wetlands polygon because it is projected in GCS_North_American_1983 and the XY units are decimal degrees and not UTMs.
