Cell size problem

Hi there, I am having a slight problem with the cell size of one of my grids.

Essentially the grid was created through kriging the centroids of a number of polygons. This works fine and the grid is relatively accurate. The problem arises when I try and apply an 'extract by mask' to the krigged grid. I am extracting only certain parts of the grid based on a number of polygons. Only certain polygons extract the cells out of the krigged grid however.

I believe the problem is the fact that the cells are just too large and the polygons too small. There is no way these polygons can be altered as they fit exactly into another data set. The question in this case then becomes quite simply:

What is the most effective way, in this instance, to decrease the cell size/increase the resolution of my krigged grid?

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Jonty

Do you have the option to create a grid (based on the kriging grid cells) version of the polygon layer? This way, polygons too small for extractign would be expanded to fit the cells you wish to grab.

I actually managed to figure it out. After creating the krigged grid if you change the cell size in spatial analyst options menu to less than it previously was. Then multiply your grid by 1 in Raster calculator this produces a grid with a much finer resolution/smaller cell size.

Although be careful how small you make your cells... I had Arc crash and burn on me three times before I found a nice medium.

Thanks for the advice though. Jonty
