I keep getting a "Could not open the specified file" prompt when trying to bring in a CAD drawing from ArcCatalog. It wont even see CAD files when I use the Add Data function either. I just installed Service Pack 2. This never was an issue before with CAD. Any ideas? Thanks!
In ArcCatalog try clicking on the "Customize" menu then "ArcCatalog Options..." then the "File Types" tab. If you see the dwg extension listed there select it and click "Remove". This solved the problem on one of our machines.
I have added dwg as a file type in ArcCatalog and am still getting "Could not open the specified file" when I drag and drop from catalog window in ArcMap. If I use add data it still doesn't see dwg files.

Hi Ari,
I tried the same steps in 10 SP 2 and I am able to view the dwg files. Can you please contact Tech Support?
I was recently given a DWG to open in ArcMap. I added the file type extension to ArcCatalog, and was unable to see the DWG. Once I removed the 'DWG' file type from the list of extensions, I was able to view and convert the DWG without issue.
