I have mosaiced several thousand orthophotos into a county-wide raster dataset (120 GB with JPG2000 compression) in SDE, except I "over-mosaiced" a bit and need to remove a 2500'x2500' area.
It's been my experience that ArcGIS chokes on exporting anything bigger than about a township (and even that takes like 4 hours), so I don't know if Clip is a good choice here.
My next thought is to somehow replace all the pixels in that area with NoData values by mosaicing a TIFF full of NoData values on top of area, but am not sure how to go about that.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
