Auto zooming to points in shape file using data driven pages.
The detail of the problem is below:
As an authority, we provide maps for different schools with points for the location of children for planning.
This used to be done using python, but no longer supported. The document would loop through each school in the city and output a map of each. The tricky bit was to have the appropriate zoom level as some schools had nearly all children living nearby, others had children living much further away. The problem is that the zoom level has to be different for each for the maps to be of use. With hundreds of schools it can't be a manual process.
Is there some way of automating a zoom level in accordance with the extents of the point shape file for each school?
A pupil file has the school field listed. Hoping for some solution that I can use together with data driven pages.
I've searched various forums and can't find an answer. Would be very grateful for any help!
