Hopefully you can help me with a problem I have. I have a point shapefile which follows a track that our research vessel traveled while we towed a video camera just above the seafloor. A new point is placed along the track when the seabed habitat changes, (rocks, sand, seagrass, etc.). These points are obtained by watching the recorded video which has overlaid GPS coordinates, and recording the location when the habitat changes. What I am trying to do is create lines in between each point and label the lines with the benthic habitat that they cover. So the point at the beginning of the line will determine its habitat type. So far I have been able to create the lines from each point to the next no problem with 'point to line' and 'split line at point' tools. My problem is automating the process to assign the line habitat from the point habitat that begins the line.
TL;DR Want to assign an attribute to a line from a point that begins the line.
Thanks,
