The Initial Data File Size used to be 40 MB, and now it is showing 100 MB, is this the expected behavior?
Can you provide some more information about exactly what you are seeing?
In January, we started building a version of ArcSDE 10 for PostgreSQL on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 update 4. This is a 64 bit implementation. Our goal is to fully test and certify this as ready to ship with pre-release in March.

PostgreSQL uses a multi-process architecture, not multi-threaded. In a multi-threaded database server, all client connections share the memory space, and are again limited by the total addressable memory region. With PostgreSQL, you could easily have more than 1Gb per backend (if necessary) without running out of memory, which significantly pushes away the point when you need to go to 64-bit.
