Adding a featureclass to a GDB

I need to add a feature class to a gDB in a replica. I found the online docs that talk about doing it. Seams like a scary process. Looks like there is a lot of risk with it. How do most people handle this?

We have a 2 way replica.

What are the risks in doing that?

Why can't you just do it from ArcCatalog?
