kernel density mapping

I am attempting to construct a kernel density map of some location data we have on geese in Sasklatchewan and Alberta.

Right now it only maps the kernel density for the extent of the point layer with the coordinates. This results in a perfect square with density ellipses lopped off at the edges. How do I change the extent of a point layer?

Any one have experience making kernel density distributions that can offer some insight?

ryan,

if understanding your issue properly, please try the following two options, when running the 'Kernal Density':

1. adjust 'Output cell size' to the smaller (saying, the half) from the default); and / or

2. reduce 'Search radius' to the half from the default

Ryan - I would go into the Geoprocessing menu -> Environment Settings and change the Processing Extent to a layer with a larger extent (i.e. county, state, etc.)

Good luck!
