I often need to attach mobile geodatabase data to ideas, questions, or private messages to Esri staff (such as @SSWoodward) for testing purposes. But .geodatabase mobile GDB files are not allowed.
The file type (.geodatabase) is not supported. Valid file types are: jpg, gif, png, pdf,
xlsx, docx, pptx, txt, log, csv, mp3, mp4, avi, har, Mxd, Mpk, Lpk, 3dd, Sxd, Lyr, gpk,
aprx, ppkx, mpkx, lpkx, mmpk, mspk, lyrx, gpkx, gcpk, pagx, rpk, .esriTasks, zip, .stylx,
stylx, AIX.
I would need to zip the file which is seen as a security risk by people who would want to download the file.
Please add the .geodatabase file extension to the list of approved file types. (also: .SQLite, .sql, .doc, and .xls)
Thanks.
Hi @Bud , confirming that we've seen this request and our team is currently doing some review and investigation on our end.
@JesseCloutier Thanks.
I changed the title since the previous title, "Allow mobile geodatabase attachments," made it sound like I wanted to attach files to features in mobile geodatabase feature classes, which was not the case.
A couple of other filetypes to add to the list:
@Bud We've enabled the requested file types, and I'm marking this idea as Implemented. Please note that Esri Community is engaging our IST team to perform an audit of our full list of enabled file types in order to ensure they meet Esri's standards and best practices for this environment. While we don't yet know the outcome of that audit, it is possible that some of the available file types will be removed.
If I try to attach a .atbx file to an idea post
then I get this error:
Correct the highlighted errors and try again.
The attachment's selectiondefinition.atbx content type (application/octet-stream) does
not match its file extension and has been removed.
Any idea why I'm getting that error? I don't think there's anything wrong with that file. I've used it as a toolbox in ArcGIS Pro without issue.
I can send you the toolbox as a .zip in a private message if you want.
Thanks!
@Bud, sending a quick update to let you know that our team is looking into this. Thank you for offering to send the file as a PM, but there's no need at the moment.
Thanks @JesseCloutier
For what it's worth, here's a related post where I mentioned I had to zip the .atbx file in order to share it in a community post: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/selection-to-definition-query/idc-p/1381225/highlight...
Thanks for sharing your workaround, @Bud!
