At airports certificated under 14 CFR Part 139, the self-inspection program is a key component of an airport operator’s airport certification program and is required under FAA FAR §139.327. An effective self- inspection program enables an airport operator to operate in compliance to Part 139 standards on a day-to-day basis. Self-inspection is a primary responsibility of the airport owner, operator, or a duly authorized representative. It is customary to assign the job of assuring overall airport ground safety to the airport manager or operations supervisor.
