ArcReader customise with Add-in?

Hey,

Does the ArcReader package have the ability to install add-ins as is possible with the other ArcMap versions? Currently running ArcMap 10.1 with Desktop Basic license and have a bespoke add-in we've developed but am wondering if users running just ArcReader will be able to install the add-in or if this level of customisation is limited to paying license holders.

Below is all I can find on the Esri site...which doesn't seem to answer my question.

Can ArcReader be customized?
ArcGIS Publisher includes access to the ArcReader developer component for embedding ArcReader or creating custom applications for viewing Published Map Files.

In looking into this for you, out of the box ArcReader cannot be customized for add-ins/toolbar. I was though able to locate the following items of information, which may assist in using an ArcReader Template. Gracias, James!

Customizing ArcReader
The ArcReader application can't be customized and extended in the same way as other ArcGIS for Desktop applications. While the ArcReader application is not customizable, custom ArcReader applications can be created using the ArcReaderControl. The ArcReader template file can also be used to enhance the use of ArcReader and custom ArcReader applications.
Anyone with a Publisher license can create custom ArcReader applications to view, explore, and print published maps. Those with a Publisher license can also use the ArcReader Configuration Developer tool to modify the ArcReader template.
The custom ArcReader application can be used by anyone who has the ArcReader application or ArcGIS Engine Runtime installed.
