Can ArcPad 8 connect to an ArcGIS Server 9.3.1 Image Service for use as a background image?

I have the same question. I'm also curious if ArcPad 7.1.1 can use Image Server images. I know it can't use WMS images.

ArcPad can't natively consume Image Server services. You could serve an Image Server service through ArcGIS Server and bring the imagery in that way as an ArcGIS Server service.

Hi,

what do you mean "ArcPad can't natively consume Image Server services"? Is ArcPad able to use WMS or IMS? For example I would like to use http://mapmaker.nature.cz/wmsconnector/com.esri.wms.Esrimap/aopk_biotopy_wms or http://geoportal.cenia.cz/cenia_b_ortorgb05m_sde

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully to clarify:

ArcPad 8 and earlier can open an ArcIMS service http://webhelp.esri.com/arcpad/8.0/userguide/displaying_data/concept_arcims.htm

ArcPad 10 can still open an ArcIMS service, but also open ArcGIS Online services http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#/Overview_of_adding_an_internet_server/00s1000...

Introduction of ArcGIS Online Services at 10 means that support of ArcGIS Server Map Services is a side benefit. Your ArcGIS Server Map Service must conform to some ArcGIS Online characteristics. For more information refer to
