When creating an arcpad file in 10 and you export your background data as shapefiles we're experiencing problems for the user in arcpad 7.1.1 and 10. If the user goes to find to search for say anything they are instantaneously kicked out of arcpad 100% of the time. When running tests I've found instead of shapefiles make the background data as "apx" files, this will make the search work without getting the good ole "Windows kick out", that windows is typically known for. But the problem is the files run about 10 times slower than files with shapefiles. It took one of my users in arcpad, 10 minutes to get his file up yesterday. When the file is first created it will open in about 5 seconds on our Panasonic Toughbook CF-19. I've experienced that apx files are horribly slow not sure if that's a glitch or if that's normal. It appears that the longer the file is worked in with apx background data the slower the file becomes. So has anyone had this problem?
