Does anyone know if its possible to set predictive text in forms for ArcPad 10? My client uses a lot of species names when collecting data in the field and it can slow them down when scrolling through the drop list containing hundreds of options. Having predictive text or something similar would make it much easier and faster. Any suggestions?

Hi Alex,

Unfortunately, the forms in ArcPad cannot use predictive text (but it is an idea that you can vote for on the Esri Ideas Page).

May I suggest that you split your species names into 2 fields - one for genus and one for species - and then build subtypes for each genus?

For example - if the genus selected is Homo then the species dropdown would be limited to Sapiens, Habilus and Erectus.

This will save having to scroll through every species when in the field!

See the ArcGIS Desktop Help for more details on Subtypes!!

Thanks,

Hannah
