Multiple CAB File Deployments To Data For ArcPad Folder?

To begin, my apologies if this question is simplistic, but I've simply not been able to figure it out.

My team is using ArcGIS 10.1 Desktop Advanced, ArcPad 10.x and Trimble Juno 3Ds to set up field data collection projects.

The projects all start as an .mxd in Desktop and using the ArcPad Data Manager toolbar we deploy the data to the Junos using the 'Get Data for ArcPad' wizard.

The issue we face is that we want to load multiple field data collection projects onto each Juno.  Unfortunately is looks like each new deployment to the Juno using the 'Get Data for ArcPad' wizard overwrites each previous project that has been deployed to the Data for ArcPad folder on the Juno.

In the Select Output Options dialog window I can designate a new folder name (see attached image), but that new folder name is created only on my desktop system and does not seem to carry forward to the Juno when the package is deployed.  As a result everything gets dumped into the 'Data for ArcPad' folder on the Juno, overwriting any existing project files.

I don't want to have to start and configure each new project as a Quick Project.  We need to use the data check-in/out functionality and need to be able to use the geodatabase domain values to drive the feature pick lists on the Juno.

Is it possible to deploy multiple project files to the Juno using the ArcPad Data Manager tools?  If not, what is the workflow for getting multiple map project files up and running in ArcPad on these devices?

If you choose not to use the .CAB file deployment in the ArcPad Data Manager, there are other ways to get your data onto your device...

If you choose to create the data on your computer now - the Data Manager will create a folder using your specified name in the specified location on your computer.

With your device connected via USB and using Microsoft Sync Software (either Windows Mobile Device Center or ActiveSync), you are able to browse the folders on your device. You can now copy and paste your project folder onto your device like you would any other folder on your machine.

This method will allow you to create multiple projects with different names and copy them onto your device without any overwriting.

After you have disconnected your device and fired-up ArcPad, you should be able to browse to any map document (.apm) and/or data (shapefile and axf) and open it in ArcPad.

Let me know if this works for you,

Hannah
