Missing Data

I have a project where all the road signs within the jurisdiction are captured as points. This is year 3 of ongoing checks and at this point only the date and a couple attributes are updated to reflect current conditions. This year however we seem to losing data, sometimes what appears to be a whole days worth and other places randomly.

The thought occurs to me that perhaps the field staff is pressing cancel accidentally, however I can't see this being the case when a days worth of data is gone. The other possibility is we are using an older model GeoXH that no longer holds a charge in the battery and needs to be plugged in all the time. Perhaps the power was cut and caused the data for the day to be lost, I have no experience with something like this so I'm not sure if power loss would cause data loss.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

If your data is being stored on the physical memory of the device and it completely disharges that battery, then you hve a fair chance of losing data. If it's on a seperate storage medium like an SD card then power loss shouldn't be an issue.

It is being stored in the physical memory, good to know my suspicion is probably right.

Thanks for the reply
