GPS buttons greyed out

Running code that fires off a custom button that uses either gpspoint and gpsstream to capture points/lines/polys.  Gpspoint works, gpsstream does not.

I thought it was something erroneous in the code so went back to default toolbars, created a newshapefile (line and poly) and attempted to edit, gps buttons are greyed out.

I then uninstalled arcpad on desktop and mobile device (juno) then reinstalled and am still unable to get standard tools to work, gps tools are greyed out.  I did find it odd that when i reinstalled I wasn't asked for a reg code again and there is a message that pops up about arcpad.apx being recently deleted or new install but didn't catch the rest of it.  Is arcpad drawing on some file somewhere on my machine that I need to delete when i reinstall?

Thanks for any assistance.

May have found the answer, hopefully someone can confirm this.

Looks like to utilize the gpspoint or gpsstream you have to have the "draw" point, polyline or polygon selected to un-grey the gpsstream buttons.  The reason that gpspoint was working is that the digitize point is the default first tool in the chain/dropdown.

Am I off my rocker, just add code before gpsstream to select "draw polygon" or "draw polyline" tool?
