I use a shape file old style set up.  I have previously used Excel 2003(?) to create .dbf files to link to for my combo boxes in my ArcPad .apl  I no longer have access to MS office 2003 but want to make some new drop down menus for new applications.  Is there a way to do this with ArcPad 10 and MS office 2010?  I could manually enter values into the combo box "values" tab but perhaps I should start updating my knowledge.  Where do I start?

Chris,

Please review ArcPad Help topic on Using Existing Data under ArcPad AXF File section. Recommendation is to import the DBF file into a Personal or File Geodatabase (GPS Analyst requires PGDB) as GDBs store data rules such as coded value domains (drop down lists)
al with range domains, subtypes, data tables, relationships between feature tables and data tables, and other properties not possible with shapefile format. I also recommend ArcGIS 10.1 Help topics on Geodatabases and Adding Datasets and Other Geodatabase Elements for more information. If you should need further assistance, please log support request with Esri Support so you may work with an analyst to get you started.

Cheers,
Denise
