Current View Extent doesn't work in Get Data for ArcPad

When I Get Data for Arcpad (10), if I want to use the Original Raster format, the option to use the "Spatial Extent: The current display extent" doesn't work.  It processes the whole image.  As a result, I can't use the file on my GPS unit because of the size.  (I am using a .sid)

My other options (which do clip) are the JP2 and the TIFF, however the TIFF is too big for the GPS even though it is clipped, and the JP2 takes a secondary step of running the Export World File tool before I can put it on the GPS.

Any ideas of what I am missing?

Writing another smaller sid from that sid might be a limitation due to the on-board Lizardtech license in ArcGIS perhaps? I would go with the JP2 workflow.

thank you for the response.. I am still coming out with a file that is too big for the GPS using the JP2.     Terrasync keeps telling me that the "background file has been closed because of limited memory".  I just can't figure out how a making a subset of a SID is a licensing issue for Lizardtech!
