Cannot add data in ArcPad 10

So I just got ArcPad 10 up and running on our new GeoXT here at work.  To test it out I created a folder called "\My Document\Collection" and dropped some shapefiles in there.  Then I went into the options and changed all the data paths to match.  Problem is, when I go to add data I cannot navigate to my "Collection" folder.  I can browse to it in the file explorer with no problem but as far as ArcPad is concerned that folder doesn't even exist.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

When you select the option to Add Layer (s) from within ArcPad, you have the option Select the Directory Browser. With this option you will be able to connect to any folder where your data resides, and then be able to access your shapefile on the mobile device.
