Hi, I have created a personal geodatabase in ArcGIS, which includes 1 feature layer only and a number of database tables. When I use the GetDataForArcPad tool, it allows me to export the feature layer only, and not the whole geodatabase. It doesn't create an AXF file. I created the geodatabase in ArcCatalogue, and imported the feature layer and the table files as per instructions. I originally created these dbf tables in Excel and saved them as dbf4 files. When I created the database in Arccatalogue, the Access database was created as it was supposed to and I have related one of the associated tables to the main table. I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. I have also had a look at the riverside example, but I don't want to use an SDE geodatabase, rather a personal one. Can anyone help?

Hi Charles,

Many times when only the feature class is exported and not the related tables it is because of either the relationship or the table itself. Do you have the tables listed in ArcMap TOC when exporting the data using Get Data For ArcPad tool? They must be listed in TOC to be checked out to ArcPad. If you are still experiencing problems and have current ArcPad maintenance, please log your support question with Esri Support via http://support.esri.com. We now have Phone, Email, Webform and Chat options to work with Support Analysts to help diagnose and troubleshoot your challenges.

Good luck,

If the personal gdb acts like the file gdb....

You don't have to have the tables listed in the TOC. This has nothing to do with whether the tables are checked out or not. Do you have relationships built between the tables and the shapefile? If you do, than it should work.

Are you using the checkout to .axf option?

Jason is correct, perhaps I was stuck on the fact that forms will only be created for related tables that are present in the MXD. http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#/Get_Data_for_ArcPad/00s100000068000000/.

ahhh... I knew that they did that for me once, but I couldn't figure out why/how. To clarify, they make forms instead of the TableView type forms. If you leave the tables out of the TOC, they will still show up in ArcPad, just as a TableView, not a nice looking form.

I just had the same thing happen..

It turned out the dataframe took its reference froma  background shapefile I added to arcmap first..

re made the mxd with the Checkout GPS data 1st and it was fine 🙂
