I know this probably a newbie question but we just recently purchased a few Trimble units with ArcPad pre-installed on them from our supplier.  Because the initial ArcPad install was done on another PC the ArcPad Manager extension didn't get loaded onto our PC's.  Any way to get this extension, so I can get the tools for ArcPad without having to contact our original ArcPad supplier?

If you are running ArcMap 10, I believe there is an issue with the dll not being registered.  The attached link has the instructions to fix it and install the dll so the ArcPad Data Manager toolbar displays and activates.

You would need to install ArcPad on the desktop to gain access to those tools.

When you purchased the mobile units with ArcPad on them, I assume you purchased individual licenses for each of them, correct?

The ArcPad license agreement says that if you purchase a license of ArcPad it can be used on one mobile device and one desktop machine.

If this is the case, you can locate their registration numbers by opening ArcPad and going to Help > About ArcPad (blue and white question mark icon).  You will find the registration number here (contains a "D" in the middle if version 10) and can enter it in when you install ArcPad.

If you don't have the installation media you can utilize the evaluation version of ArcPad 10 SP2 from the following site (becomes a fully activated version after registration):

http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcpad/evaluate.html

For older versions of ArcPad look here:

http://resources.arcgis.com/content/patches-and-service-packs?fa=listPatches&PID=26

As long as you stick with one registration number per mobile unit / desktop you'll be just fine.
