In an attempt to improve the user experience when taking photos in ArcPad using the inbuilt camera on a JunoSB I've been playing around with ArcPad 10.  At ArcPad 8 it takes 30sec to activate the camera when using the 'cameracapture' command from a button on a form, with a further 15sec to return to ArcPad once the picture is taken, which is way too long.
Using the 'ArcPad Camera' extension at ArcPad 10 greatly improves the capture time (4sec to activate the camera function) but I can only get a 160x120 image, the image size dropdown in the extension options is greyed out and can't be changed.  How do I increase the size of the image to make it useable back in the office?  If I use the 'Windows Mobile Camera' extension I can set the image size from 320x240 up to 2048x1536 but it still takes around 25sec to take a photo.
A more interesting problem is that when using the 'ArcPad Camera' extension, I have to hold the Juno on a 15degree angle to 'center' the object that I'm photographing, ie, the 'center' of the displayed (and captured) image is not perpendicular to the lens of the Juno.  This is not a problem when using the 'Windows Mobile Camera' option.

Cheers,
Neil.

Several months back I found a work around for speeding up the camera in a Juno running ArcPad8.  Try following the directions below and see what happens. I will look into as well.

Message I think I have found the problem...SCREEN ORIENTATION! Set it to landscape (left-handed) and let me know what happens.

My camera is opening in ArcPad in 2-3 seconds, so I tried to replicate your problems. I increased the picture size in camera and arcpad, turned on all extensions under advanced menu, opened several programs in the windows mobile...nothing effected it. I noticed my screen orientation was set to landscape (left-handed)so I decided to switch it to potrait. It now takes my camera about 40+ seconds to load and another 30+ seconds to store. I think this replicates your problems.

Hope this helps,
