I am on ArcGIS 10 SP1 and ArcPad 10 SP1. I created a simple mxd with a boundary, streets and the city layers. The city layers have color fill with no outline. When moving that mxd to the handheld (JUNO SB_SC) using the ArcPad Data Manager, the the symbology for the city layer does not transfer. The polygon symbology shows with an outline.. Is this a bug?
Thanks

Yes, this has been recognised as a bug and is already logged in the system - thanks!!

I am using ArcMap 10.0, SP 5, with ArcPad 10 & Trimble GPS Analyst 2.30.

Trimble GPS Analyst does not export my symbology to ArcPad.

The ArcPad Data Manager does export styles, but it also crashes ArcMap, every time.

All I want is some simple symbology for GPS collection, that matches what I have in my ArcMap map. Why is this so hard to do?

Hey Joel,

A few things you can try to troubleshoot your issues:

- Check-out each layer separately to narrow down the problem.

- Make sure that you are not trying to check-out unsupported data types eg. Joins and Attributed Relationship Classes

And remember - ArcPad does NOT support custom marker symbols. Try using simple point symbols instead.

If you can't resolve your issues - please contact Esri Support (they have super-awesome ArcPad Support Analysts that will be able to help you!)

Hope this helps,

Joel,

The 'export styles reference'  crash I believe is a bug that is still in most recent version of ArcPad.

Do ESRI have the aim of providing a patch/fix in the near future?

Thanks for the response Hannah.

I am assuming my problem is related to relationship classes. I will try removing those.
My map is very simple, only 3 layers (1 point & 2 line) plus a GPS layer, with simple symbols.

EDIT: I made an even simpler map with one layer, a point shapefile, using whatever default symbology comes from "Add Data". Only thing in the map. Crashed just the same. The problem is beyond my control, it is in the software.
