ArcPad 10-problem using Data Table for control values

I'm running ArcPad 10 on Windows 7, and am trying to use a table with a number of location descriptions as a drop down control in a form.  I can add the data table in the control properties, but nothing shows up in the box.  I've tried db III,, IV and V files and that doesn't seem to be an issue.  Has anyone else ever had an issue with this, or have an idea what I might be doing wrong?  Thanks.

Jason,

I assume that you're referring to blank drop down lists that appear next to "Values Field" and "Text Field" in the List Values tab of the Control Properties.  Is that correct?

If this is the case it is a known software defect between ArcPad and the Windows Vista / 7 OS.

In Windows 7, you will not receive populated drop down lists of fields in the List Values tab.  Until the bug is resolved you'll need to install ArcPad on a Windows XP machine to pick these values.

You could do all of your work via Windows 7 and utilize XP only for setting these fields.

By the way, I've always used dbase IV for the creation of pick lists in ArcPad.

Let me know if I didn't fully understand your question.

Tim, you hit the nail on the head.  Thanks for your help.

Always a reason to keep a machine with another OS around......

Tim, is there a plan to develop and release a patch to fix this issue anytime soon??

Jason,

Currently this bug has a planned resolution set for ArcPad 10.1.  At this point in time it doesn't look like a fix we be available before then.

CQ00312474: Fields for external list values only show on XP machines (not on Win7/Vista)

If you are current on maintenance, feel free to give support a call down the road if you would like to know the current status of this bug.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
