When I go to a .apm I am using I say- "open last map used" then ArcPad shows an error window- "ArcPad has stopped working" and closes the application. If I navigate to the .apm using "choose map to open"- the same thing happens. I can open other apms successfully. What is causing this issue?

was everything in the same location as the last time it was successfully opened?

Something is corrupted then, so barring any further information, it is hard to pinpoint a source of the error or a solution

Hi Anna,

Sounds like some troubleshooting is required.

Here's two techniques.

1) Chopping technique

Make a backup of the APM, then, start chopping XML tags away from it in a step-by-step fashion until you end up with a barebones APM. At one point it should open, then, you should narrow down the "last thing" that caused it to change from crashing to not crashing.

2) Additive technique

Create a blank new APM, then, start adding XML tags from the APM that doesn't work in a step-by-step fashion, until you end up with the original APM. At one point, the APM should stop opening, then, you should narrow down the "last thing" that caused it to change from not crashing to crashing.

Once you've isolated the line, this would provide us with further information as to what is going on.

Stephen,

Thank you for the suggestion I have been working on this issue this evening.

I determined one layer associated with that apm will crash ArcPad in a new map.

How do I repair that layer?

I had a similar error, it turned out that the APM I wanted to use was too heavy for the device's memory or ArcPad. The solution had to be divided into several APMs and so I work.

Saludos

Javier
