Absolute vs Relative paths on ArcPad under Windows Mobile - how do you do it?

We capture a image with our point an it store the record with an absolute path (eg: \SD Card\ProjectX\Images\Image001.jpg) on the mobile device.

When we manually transfer the folder back to desktop the Hyperlink is still looking in the \SD Card\ProjectX\Images\ folder for the file.
(Our customer experience also tells us that when they open same shapefile in ArcMap, ArcMap crashes when looking for the hyperlinked image!)

How do you tell the ArcPad Mobile project to use a relative path when storing the image record?

Hi Phil, what version of ArcPad are you using? That functionality was built into ArcPad 10. When you use the data manager the photo page has two settings, the path for the photos when features are checked in and a check box for keeping the original paths in your data.

This was implemented as we knew people would want the hyperlink altered correctly on CHeck In, rather than running the "Calculate Field" but they still want the links to be correctly maintained in the field data too so they can still be used while working.

Gareth,
My customer (and his  customer) are still using ArcPad 8 in this instance.
We're still finalising development for our ArcPad Extension under ArcPad 10.

I'll try the settings you recommend and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks,

Phil
