Spatial Analysis Extension

Question:

I currently do not have the Sany extended licenses for Arcmap.  Do I need to have the Spatial Analysis extension to compute the M values and Z coordinates (see photo 1)?  I ran the ADD XY COORDINATES command but like to calculate the M values and Z coordinates.  I can't use calculate geometry for M and Z as the coordinate system selected it the XY datum (see photo 2).  How do I calculate the M values and Z coordinates or is an extended license(s) required? 

Also, may you please explain the meaning of the M value?
