Hello,

I am an environmental biologist for a state agency and I use ArcMap frequently to display species occurrence coordinates throughout the state in different counties and/or waterbodies. I am working with 80 different layers each accompanying occurrence information for a single species. When I load the project it projects all the points at first, but after some time passes as I toggle different species layers on and off, soon ArcMap fails to project and points. Problem is solved when I clear the cache but then I have to reload the entire project which takes some time for it to load. Can someone tell me, why is this happening and is there a solution?

Given that ArcMap is 32bit application and the cache clearing is necessary, the first thought is that the machine has exceeded the resource pool on the machine and left to do the best that it can. Is there any option for you to move your project into an ArcGIS Pro to get the 64bit resource model?

If you cannot yet move to Pro, can you split the project into 2 or 3 separate projects to keep resource usage from spiking.
