Hello,

Working in a new GIS  project for a multi-utilities company (electricity, gas and telecom) with focus on mobility solutions (FieldMaps, Survey123, WorkForce) connected with the organization's business process (data quality, maintenance, incidents management, ...), I'm really interested in Workflow Manager.

Workflow Management requires of course a cross business services and applications interoperability witch is focused on standards and particularly support to BPMN/BAM for this organization. This point is important from the  IT/IS perspective for Solution Architects and Business Architects.

Therefore, I wonder if Workflow Manager is compliant with BPMN. I found no reference in the documentation.  If not, could be possible to implement through the WFM API a XML conversion from/to BPMN 2.0  and Workflow Manager? Does this make sense?

Kind regards,

Carlos

Hi @CarlosSalguero_Hoffmann

We haven't specifically certified or sought compliance with BPMN for Workflow Manager that I'm aware of. I took a look at the specification (http://www.omg.org/spec/BPMN/2.0/) and it's certainly in-depth.

Regarding converting Workflow Manager software to BPMN using an XML conversion (or any other way), that would not be possible as we don't allow configuration changes to the core software schema which is what would need to change here (assuming we don't already meet these specs now).

All that said, we do have a number of utility customers either already using Workflow Manager or looking into it now. I'd say if you have any specific concerns or areas you'd like us to look into regarding BPMN, that would be the easiest way forward here. It's likely changes here would need to be enhancements to the software rather than conversions on the fly.
