Add Data Import Functionality to the New Web Editor

I would like to suggest adding the ability to import data directly into the new web editor—specifically from portal items, local files, or URLs. This functionality would be extremely valuable for editing workflows.

In our current setup, we frequently use the copy polygon tool in Web AppBuilder to transfer features between layers. Many of these layers are temporary provided by external consultants. These layers are reviewed by specialists with very limited GIS knowledge and then imported into our geodatabase using the copy polygon tool available in Web AppBuilder’s Smart Editor.

With Web AppBuilder being retired soon, it's critical for us to have similar capabilities in the new web editor to maintain our workflows. The ability to quickly bring in external data and copy features between layers is essential for our day-to-day operations.

We hope this functionality can be prioritized in future updates to the web editor.

Hi @andreoudi

thanks for sharing your idea. This is on our future roadmap. We're actively working to add support for editors to add temporary layers to the map, and copy/paste features from temporary layers into other editable layers in the map. Stay tuned for updates.

Best, Emily
